Chintan Upadhayay was born in 1972 and studied at the M.S.University, Baroda. He has had three solo exhibitions including those at the Fine Art Company, Mumbai (1999), the Shahjehan Art Gallery, New Delhi (1998) and at the Leela Kempinski Art Gallery, Mumbai (1996). His group exhibitions included "Art and Technology" at the NGMA, Mumbai (2000), "SIC a collaborative audio-video Installation" at the Fine Art Company, Mumbai (2000), Tongue in cheek a group show at Gallery Art Resource in 2002 in Mumbai. Solo Show at Ashish Balram Nagpal's gallery in 2002. He has also participated in various national workshops. Sexuality and its attendant problamatique of desire is an abiding master-theme in most of Upadhayay's work though a lot of it is unabashedly celebratory in nature.
