ZAKKIR HUSSAIN ( b.1970) born in Chandiroor, Alappuzha, Kerala, finished B.F.A.Painting from the College of Fine Arts in 1994 & M.F.A.Graphics from the M.S.University Baroda, Gujarat. Has won: 2000 Kerala Lalit Kala Academy & 2001 ALFACS award for Drawing. Has held several solo shows: 1997 Fragments from the devastated land at Draavidia Art & Performances gallery Mattanchery, Kochi; 1999 Threatening existence Zen Studio Gallery Eramalloor, Alappuzha; 2000 Paintings, drawings and prints at Darbar Hall Eranakulam sponsored by Kerala Lalit Kala Academy; 2003 Open Studio 2 months residency and a solo show at Navaratna Apartment, Bangalore sponsored by a Swiss and Bangalore artists group; 2003 Resent works curated by Kathleen Wyma (University of British Colombia, Canada) Dravidia Art and performance Gallery Kochi.
