Born in 1961, studied Painting at the Sir J.J.School of Arts, Mumbai from 1980-85.Has won many awards: 1990-Navdeep Sanskriti Pratishthan Award for the Plastic Arts; 1997 Sanskriti Award, Sanskriti Pratishthan, New Delhi; Nominated Sotheby's Prize 1998; 1999 Sotheby's Prize Exhibition Jehangir Nicholson gallery, Mumbai. Has held several solo shows: in 1993 at the Holland Art Gallery, Rotienlamand later to Amsterdam; in 1995 'Paper Moon', solo exhibition at Pundole Art Gallery, Mumbai, later moved to Rabindra Bhavan New Delhi; 1998 Fifty Lines solo exhibition of paintings at Apparao Gallery, Chennai. Has worked on several installations in India at: Delhi, Shah House, UTI Mumbai, Sakshi Gallery Mumbai; NGMA Mumbai, Triveni Kala Sangam Delhi, Cochin since 1991 & abroad at Scotland, Japan, UK, Seoul South Korea since 1994. Has held numerous major group exhibitions in India at Habitat Centre Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, NGMA Delhi, Tao Art Gallery Mumbai, Jehangir Art Gallery Mumbai; Ahmedabad since 1996 and abroad at Cadavre Exquis Washington DC, represented India at Gwangiu Biennale, South Korea, represented Bombay in 'Century City' at the Tate Modern, London, represented India at the Art in the World at Palace the Retz, Paris; Singapore. Some of these shows are curated by Anupa Mehta, Ranjit Hoskote, Dr. Sarayu Doshi, Tasneem Mehta to name a few. He has attended many camps and workshops: in 1985 attended XAL Praxis Foundation Art Camp in Goa; 1991 Art Camp organised by Kanoria Centre for the Arts, Ahmedabad; 1993 attended the Khoj International Work Shop, Modinagar; 1999 the Art Camp at Jamshedpur organised by Tata Iron And Steel; 2001 Art Camp organised by Kalapeetham, Cochin, Kerala. In 1987-90 received the Fellow at Kanoria Centre for Arts. Currently working on a large-scale installation project based on the idea of an amusement parlour within a museum space scheduled for 2003. He lives and works in Mumbai.
