He weaves poetry on paper with his mixed media on paper. His works are sensitive and profound. His style is at once bold with strong linear delineation and also subtle. His paintings speak in whispers. The little boy with a kite, a joker off stage or women waiting at the door are all subjects from common walks of life and yet they have an undertone which lends dignity to the entire ambience. Biswapati Maiti's concept of domestic bliss resides in well-cared simple homes decorated with loving care, in which bashfully women from Rajasthani miniatures and Bengali folk painting come alive to fill in the space, bejewelled and dressed in fineries these women live half their lives as if in paintings of bye gone era and half in our times, in splendor and tranquility...ExC The Centre Art Gallery, Calcutta, 1996.
