SUDHIR PATWARDHAN (B.1949) born in Pune, Maharashtra, he initially studied medicine at university and later became a self-taught painter. He first exhibited his paintings in 1979 in Delhi, Mumbai and Bhopal and participated in numerous group exhibitions, such as Place for People, Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai (1981) India Myth and Reality, Museum of Modern Art, Oxford (1982) The Festival of India, London (1982) New York (1985) and Paris (1986) and Coups de Coeur, Halles de I'Iie, Geneva (1987). His works are represented in several museums including the Punjab University Museum, Chandigarh, the Roopankar Museum, Bhopal and the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi. He presently lives in Thane on the outskirts of Mumbai.
