Hema Upadhyay was born in 1972 and took her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Fine Arts from the M.S.University, Baroda. Has received in 1996-98 the National Scholarship, Ministry of Human Resources, Govt of India; 1997 Gujarat State Lalit Kala Academy Annual Award & 2001 the 10th International Triennale, India. She has had the following solo shows: 2001 Sweet Sweat Memories, Gallery Chemould Mumbai & The Nymph and the Adult, Sydney; 2001-02 The Nymph and the Adult at Brisbane; 2003 Made in China a collaboration with Chintan Upadhyay Mumbai & 2004 Underneath at Gallery Chemould Mumbai. She lives and works in Mumbai.
