Sunil Gawade was born in 1960 and completed his training in Fine Arts from the Sir J.J.School of Art, Mumbai. He has held many solo exhibitions including the ones at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai (1990, 1998), Mackintosh Museum Glasgow, (1997), ARKS Gallery, Mumbai (1995) among others. He was awarded the Charles Wallace Award (96/96), by the British Council, with residency at the Glasgow School of Art, UK. He has also participated in several group exhibitions including the 8 Asian Art Biennial held at Dhaka, Bangladesh. He lives and works in Mumbai.
