For Manoj, colours are not just pigments. They have their own mood, their own emotion, their own lexicon. Vermillion, green, magenta, ochre, sienna, blue ….. Manoj spreads them on his canvas, and they bring to life a new reality. The colours seek inspiration from the sun, water, air. If the elements change from moment to moment, so do the colours on the artist’s palette. Sometimes, they float on the wings of a cloud. Sometimes they try to still breakers. Sometimes they seek to illuminate the serenity of the countryside. All in all, they have but one purpose: Break free of the confines of the terrestrial world, and experience the expanse of the overarching openness.

So what happens to those other realities of the natral world – love, relationships, religions? Or the conflicts born thereof? They too are a piece of this painted world, but again, strictly as colours that need no tangible form. If every colour has a reason, and every shade a resonance, colours themselves can carry on a dialogue, and resolve tensions rooted in the real world.
